Beauty is (in the eye of) the beholder

In a world where people buy selfie cameras for 1.000 dollars and you no longer can identify a person from a recent photography due to extreme retouching, is it time to face the facts: No one is interested in how you look, they prefer to look at their own embellished faces.
So the only way to get some kind of contact with people around you is to mirror them ... in a retouched way.

My creative jewellery set consists of two face half masks and a breast plate.
I have used reflective vinyl, embroidery thread, Swarovski crystals, metal wire and crin in my work.
I chose to embroider to get a strong contrast between the shiny, contemporary vinyl and the soft, traditional handicraft. The Swarovsi crystals are used as high lights in the embroideries.
The technique for the metal wire framework have I borrowed from the millinery area.
