Sabarmati Riverfront
November, 2016
Site: Branding the cold grey riverfront in context with the city
Brainstorming what the Riverfront stands for the people of the city
Establishing the WHAT, WHY and HOW for the concept and the brief
SABARMATI is where the whole city comes together. Let the stories from both sides
be heard and shared.
To celebrate and discover the shades of life, culture, people of the city to create NEW HISTORY.
"SABARMATI ni VARTA" - A campaign where community is defined by its places, culture and people
CONCEPTS
1. Recorded Letters
Letters spelling Sabarmati with speakers on it. Letters placed on the pathway near the wall for people to go near it and take photos. They also have speakers on it which tells the stories of the people. Place your ears at the speakers to hear them.
                                        2. Riddled Stories
Placing pictograms on the wall to tell your story. Everyone has their own interpretation of the arrangement and to view the actual story and comment, the QR code next to it can be of help.
3. Doors on the wall

Doors bring in the curiosity as to what lays inside it. This brings in interactiveness. The Doors open to say stories of the people. Viewers can leave behind any object inside the doors as a token of appreciation for the story.
The door was later changed to windows as it suited the concept much better.
Example for stories:
The hostel maid’s story of how she doesnt mind cleaning the toilets.
Struggling life of the gaurd at the middle gate.
A grandmother’s worry for her kids.
Story 1: Bubble of Happiness
Story of a girl who sells bubble sticks at Law Garden. Her parents cannot afford her education so she sells them to buy herself books and pay her fees.
She loves her parents and her job.
Who else can say their work is to make bubbles  and make kids happy. I educate myself with the money I earn from bubble sticks. I am happy all the time.
The sketch is a sneak peak of the window once opened.
Story 2 : Chacha ke haath ka khana
Story of the man who sells the most delicious theplas in the city and loves to cook.
"To all the people still living in stone age, this is the 26th year I can make the most perfect round theplas and no that doesn't make me any less of a man."

MOOD BOARD for the illustration on the wall
Final look of the riverfront wall from a distance
Panel design for the whole project
Don't forget to appreciate and leave your feedback! Thank you.
