Best of 2016:
I guess this year starts with the arrival of Ed Force One -- this time leasing a 747 for their arrival. Quite a few fellow Maiden fans on hand to watch the plane come in. (Album on flickr)
Continuing with the planes, this time the Air Show at Trenton Air Force base. These shots were taken from the line-up... might have spent too much time in that line-up.
All shots collected here.
For racing season, the WeatherTech Sports Car Series at Canadian Tyre Motorsports Park. It's always fun here without the fencing and free to experiment with some extreme pans.
Last season for the experimental Delta Wing race car.
All shots collected here.
A shot of the Ford GT through some trees.
Back in Toronto for the Honda IndyCar race. Again having fun with some long shutter panning to help reduce the fencing.
A good high vantage for the Stadium Super Trucks mid-jump.
Josef photo-bombing a fan photo with Tony Kanaan. My lens was too long to capture the whole thing, but this is the more entertaining part. (Album on flickr)
The ATP tour visiting the Rogers Cup in Toronto resulted in many action shots. We were seated especially close this year.
Muller coming into the net for this shot.
Djokovic tossing the ball for serve.
Djokovic in the air to return this shot.
Posposil at the net.
A skidding return for Monfils.
And a leaping return for Monfils. (See album on flickr)
Canadian SuperBikes at Canadian Tyre Motorsports Park. Burning out at turn 5 to celebrate victory.
More slow shutter pans at turn 5.
Turn 5 provides some of the best shots of the riders banking around the corner.
See the collection on flickr.
The Canadian International Air Show during the last days of the Exhibition. Hazy late summer days make for a lot of post-processing of pictures, but at the same time the jets are spectacular as they punch through the humidity.
Mike Wiskus likes to fly low, which is great since they make for great panning shots.
My favourites always include classic planes -- sometimes very few are in flying shape these days.
The Snowbirds are always a classic shot. See the album on flickr.
I caught this unique expression during the KT Tunstall concert.
And a double shot of KT in concert. (Album on flickr)
Broke out the film camera this year shooting some Black and White for fall colours. To make things interesting, used an orange filter on the red and yellow leaves.
Shots were supplemented with colour using my little point-and-shoot.
I have a popular shot where I ask people to spot the mistake: shooting colour film with the orange filter. While it's a waste of a colour opportunity, just converting to Black and White still achieves the effect I was looking for.
Or, in this instance, just cranking out the orange slider left this interesting duo-tone shot I ended up liking a lot.
Love the way the sunlight comes off these curling branches.
A carpet of leaves under this hollowed trunk.
A layer of yellow; background of green.
Creeping roots.
Looking out from the Niagara escarpment at Kelso Conservation area.
Green and red juxstaposed.
