AGGRESSIVE EXPLORATION
The badlands of southern Utah are full of fascinating formations. Walking in this alien landscape of high dunes and textured hills makes one remember the strangeness of our own planet. When empty, these areas fall completely silent. Yet, the landscape provides constant reminders of tumultuous geological events.
These mancos-shale badlands make for an incredible playground for dirt-bikes and off-highway vehicles. The tracks these vehicles leave behind combined with the stark monochromatic textures of the dunes harkens back to images of lunar rovers scurrying across the surface of our nearest heavenly neighbor.
I am captivated by the textures, tracks, and lines these vehicles leave on the otherwise bare hills, as well as how alien this place is and how easily one can forget his or her place walking amongst such strange giants.
