ROCKPORT DREAM
For this theoretical project, my design team and I collaborated with a real estate developer, local residents, and other architects to develop a master plan for a walkable West Rockport, in mid-coast Maine. The project would begin with this flex-use community center. Situated at the center of town, the building program includes a multi-use hall, incubator business spaces, and a new restaurant and café. As former colleagues of New Urbanists Andrés Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, the developer and architects applied similar principles to the town master plan, supporting a dense, walkable, mixed-use cluster of buildings and public spaces to strengthen civic identity, improve public health, and preserve nearby forests. Using images that adopt a kind of dream-state aesthetic, this project was primarily designed through 3D drawing iterations, whereby experiences were imagined into life from the human perspective.
