Mustachio Nut 2018

Moustachio Nut 2018

Each year I undertake a charity project that I call Moustachio Nut.  The aim of the project is to help raise awareness, and money, of the Prostate Cancer Research Centre.

In the past I have focused this project around Movember, and therefore tried to drive the attention throughout November.  However, I have found that the attempt to carry out something like this in just one month was unrealistic, and I failed to execute to the scale that I wanted.

Therefore, in 2018, I made the decision to make this a nine month project, starting in March (to save you the effort of doing the math, it will conclude on 30th November).

The aim of the project is to shoot portraits of those with facial hair.  Notice I said 'those', not men.  Ladies if you wish to be a part of Moustachio Nut you are more than welcome to draw on a fanciful moustache or stick a beard to your face.

My intent is to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer, which effects over forty thousand men, each year in the UK alone, with men fifty and over having a one in eight chance of developing the cancer.

On the 3rd March I had two appointments.  Unfortunately due to the 'beast from the east' hitting the UK the first appointment of the day had to cancel.  The second went ahead.  One of the portraits taken from that shoot is below, and it is this photograph that features this weeks creative process.
