Caito

This illustration was for popular New Zealand social media entertainer Caito Potatoe. As a teenager, I spent a few minutes of my time on social media and I really enjoyed Caito's rant videos on Facebook. She studied graphic design in Auckland and her video's usually consisted of her humorously yelling at her camera about her school life and the difficulties of family life. 

As an awkward, design student with a complicated family life, I completely sympathized her first world problems. Her videos made me feel less alone, as a result I wanted to give back by creating this illustration for her. At the time she was receiving a lot of fan art, so I was uncertain that she was going to see it. 

I borrowed one of her images from facebook as a template and I drew over the outlines as I did with my Rihanna illustration, except I coloured majority of the aspects in illustrator and I only contoured the skin in Photoshop, I wanted the illustration to have a 2 dimensional aesthetic, so this can be used for screen printing as well.

I posted the image on Facebook and it received a lot of attention, and to my surprise Caito noticed it a day later, with a comment saying that she loved it.
