HELLMENNS'S FOOD WASTE BIN
LIMIT
Limit is a bin designed to help combat food waste. Along with the companion app that accompanies this product, which uses the perspective to influence user’s food waste habits. By keeping a track of the weight of food waste produced over a time period, the product can notify the user on how much waste they have produced and can relate that to how many people it could have fed so as to generate an emotional impact that can hopefully help to motivate a change in their waste habits.
This food waste bin and companion app is how I responded to the Hellmann’s brief on food waste set on the D&AD competition.
We wanted to make something that would draw people into taking part in food waste and that would challenge their preconception of it. We also wanted people to see the real life implications of the food that they wasted, hence why we made the app to run alongside the bin.
We wanted to make something that would stand out and something that didn’t follow Hellmann’s conventional branding.
