The Divided City
The Divided City

Since 2015 film production became more and more interested to deal with the once existing split within Germany.
Within two years,we developed visual effects for three productions: "Atomic Blonde, Deutschland 83 and The same sky".

We transformed Berlin back to the time before the reunion, redesigned the wall, the death strip and the border crossings. The interesting point over the years was to intensively dive into Germany´s most cold - and the words historically extremely important time.
Atomic Blonde
(Setting: Berlin 1989/90)

For the movie „Atomic Blonde“, we reconstructed the death strip at the east station with all its watch towers and walls.
The documentation material of that time is rare, because most of the border crossings were exclusion zones. Over month we analyzed photo material and went through public records.

The same sky
(Setting: Berlin 1970)

The shooting for „the same sky“ were realized in Prag and Berlin. Today, the death strip is no longer part of the cityshape. The big blank boring areas are since years covered with buildings. Our challenge was to reset these areas and reconstruct the death strip back in the cityshape.

Deutschland 83
(Setting: Berlin 1983)

The TV-production „Deutschland 83“ is a series told through the perspective of an east-german undercover agent. For this series, we shifted Berlin back to the 80s.
