Galipatam* is a cultural festival celebrated by the student community of National Institute of Design, Andhra Pradesh (Vijayawada) on the occassion of Sankranti. It started as an initiative to bond with the residents of the township where the students were staying in a handful of flats.
A day long festival which happened in collaboration with the residents of Rain Tree Park, situated on the Vijayawada-Guntur highway included various cultural activities: bonfire, competitions for kids, Kite-flying, art installations, etc. As a part of the Documentation team, I used visual reportage as my medium to record variety of activities taking place right from preparation for the event to the final execution.

*Galipatam (gaa-li-pu-tum), written as గాలిపటం in telugu, means 'Kite'. Since Sankranti is also a kite festival, hence the name.
