Minimal Messenger App
Minimal Messenger App
In current times, Messenger apps are the most dominant apps that are used. About 80% time in smartphones is spent on messenger apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Hike, Snapchat and so on. This project is based on a minimal approach to a messenger app. I am going to name this app as Converse.

In this project, I will be designing the complete app screen by screen which shall not only have a good UI but also a great UX. To ensure this, I have already taken user interviews of people from different age groups and varied interests. Will include the insights screen by screen.

Feel free to provide feedback or comment if you have any queries on the design decisions made.

Let's Start!
The Inbox
Inbox is one of the most elemental part of any messenger app. It gives us access to the received messages. When I asked users about what they thought about the inbox, there were some interesting insights

Insights from the user interviews

- Want to clearly see the unread messages
- Want to know how many messages are unread and from how many people
- Want to have messages filtered into groups like office, friends, home etc.

Working on the insights, every chat item seems like
The final inbox design as an outcome of multiple design iterations below. Note that these designs have come out of series of low to high fidelity design iterations. I am just posting the design after final iteration.

Next on my list is what happens when you click on each of the options in the persistent options bar at the bottom.
Keep watching this project and comment if you want me to document various stages of my design process.
