Com o objetivo de construir uma arquitetura sagrada que sirva várias religiões, tivemos como ponto de partida um projeto que deveria estar aberto a todos. Além de que tenha alguma relação com o símbolo infinito, para representar a espiritualidade e a divindade. Queríamos também usar muita luz natural porque é um instrumento que relaciona o profano com o divino.
O conceito final do projeto foi inspirado pela natureza, que é ilimitada e está sempre disponível para todos. Considerando a cultura senegalesa, criamos um espaço circular que permite que as pessoas comemorem e dancem. Finalmente, para representar a busca da espiritualidade, criamos uma passarela que leva as pessoas do piso térreo (profano) à capela (divina), que está localizada no segundo andar, marcando sua importância no trabalho.
Para a arquitetura sagrada, o espaço principal do projeto, usamos madeira para levantar as paredes, que serão espaçadas com o objetivo de a luz natural penetrar no local e cruzamento de ventilação. Dentro do local, criamos um espaço aberto para que diferentes religiões pudessem se adaptar de acordo com as necessidades de suas celebrações. Buscando renovar o vínculo do homem com a natureza, e seguindo o tema do trabalho, a arquitetura sagrada é vazada para dar espaço a uma árvore e o telhado tem a forma de uma folha. É feito de palha e tem declive e cavidade que facilitam a captura de águas pluviais.
Apoiando e complementando a arquitetura sagrada, planejamos construir estruturas de apoio que possam servir a população em situações de emergência, bem como em outras atividades religiosas. A técnica do superadobe é usada para erguer essas estruturas, que possuem um telhado verde, no mesmo formato que o telhado da capela, reafirmando os aspectos da natureza no espaço. A outra estrutura, que servirá para armazenar água da chuva, também terá um banheiro ecológico seco, que não precisa de água para o seu funcionamento.
Através do contato com a natureza, queremos que o Leaf of Life, além de ser sustentável, seja multicultural, versátil, agradável e relaxante para todos.

Aiming to build a holy architecture that would serve several religions, we had the initial idea of a project that should be open to all. In addition, we craved that the project had some relation with the infinite symbol, to represent spirituality and divinity. We wanted also to use plenty of natural light because is an instrument that relates the profane with the divine.
The final concept of the project was inspired by nature, which is unlimited and is always available to all. Considering the Senegalese culture, we have created a circular space that allows people to celebrate and dance. Finally, to represent the search for spirituality, we created a footbridge that takes people from the ground floor (profane) to the chapel (divine), which is located on the second floor, marking its importance in the work.
For the holy architecture, the main space of the project, we used wood to lift the walls, which will be spaced apart with the aim of natural light penetrating the site and ventilation crossing. Inside the place, we created an open space so that different religions could adapt according to the needs of their celebrations. Seeking to renew man's bond with nature, and following the theme of the work, the holy architecture is leaked to give space to a tree and the roof is shaped like a leaf. It is made from straw and has slope and cavity that facilitate the capture of rainwater.
Supporting and complementing the holy architecture, we plan to build support structures that can serve the population in emergency situations as well as in other religious activities. The superadobe technique is used to erect these structures, which have a green roof, in the same format as the roof of the chapel, reaffirming the aspects of nature in space. The other structure, which will serve to store rainwater, will also have an ecological dry toilet, which does not need water for its operation.
Through the contact with nature, we want the work, besides being sustainable, to be multicultural, versatile, pleasant and relaxing for all. We hope that the population will identify with the proposed construction, making it the main meeting point of the village.
