The Perfect wallet

I’m embarking on a daily UX challenge (http://2is0.com/dailyux/). Today’s challenge is all about creating the perfect wallet for a friend. I picked my friend Esteban for this exercise because Esteban carries a phone case wallet with him everywhere and a new wallet would be great for him.

User interview

Esteban's perfect wallet.

1. What kind of wallet are you using to this day?
- He's using a phone with a phonecase as a wallet to this day.

2. What do you normally carry in it?
- bankcard only.

3. Is there anything else you could need in a wallet, perhaps supplements like a pen, paper, loose change?

- A miniture memo pad and a pencil. That would be good to have around when you're in need of typing something down really quickly instead of using an app on the phone. He likes to be old fashion.

4.What do you like about your wallet?
- That it's really easy to carry around and that you don't need to carry around more than one thing on you.

5.What do you hate about it?
- Nothing really, the only that you kind of dislike is if you lose your phone then you lose your wallet as well and that's not good.

Features
- Easy to use
- There's only room for one card

- Having both the phone and the wallet in one is saving time when you'd want to be quick while either looking something up in the phone or just need to pay something really fast.

After this interview with Esteban i started to sketch up an idea that i had in my head

First thought that i had when i looked at the pictures, I see that i can fit in a tiny memopad and a pencil that my friend wanted to have. This is the outcome of it and the dot that's on the cardholder is a magnet that keeps things in place with the memopad on the backside of the cardholder.
RESULTS

The first thoughts my friend had on the new design was that he loved the idea of having one. He told me to make one right away. He likes the idea that it's the same type of case that he uses right now, so switching over to something like this would be very easy and not feel weird or forced. It has the same type of card holder as of before which is the primer thing to have. And he likes the idea of how i incorporated the notepad and the pencil in the phone case. It feels quite natural with the card holder.
This challenge was really fun to do where you had to make an interview and from that interview make a sketch of something that could change the appearance of the wallet that the person has to this day. And to see their reaction of what could be an inspiring new design of a new wallet that they could think about of using in the near future if it's ever going to exist out there on the market.

To sum this challenge up it was a real challenge because you had 24h to do it and you had to think a bit of outside of the box while doing it so you can start at the sketching and get the instant feedback on it while thinking further into a new design.
