Nowadays, our culture has become so individualistic that most people live every day without caring about "the other". We are so busy with our needs and priorities that we tend to forget that we are part of a bigger picture. If as individuals we are not functioning as part of a whole, how can we expect greater change to happen in our  our neighbor's life and even in the nations? Depression and Stress are the source of major diseases, and both are leading more people to suicide every year. A sad fact is that the highest rate of suicide is between teenage years, knowing that those years ought to be enjoyed. Depression is not a personal problem, it is society's problem. If we see something we don't like on society, lets start by setting an example. I strongly believe that if as individuals we simply start thinking of "the other" in small ways, it will bring significant change to those around us, as I think about  those days when only one smile from a stranger made my day easier. This project is called "The Act of Love" because it implies SHOWING it. It calls for an awareness of the other, from the simplest Good Morning, to a Dad leaving job early to spend more time with his children. Believing that by creating a culture of love and caring for "the other", depression will no longer be an issue in which people struggle alone. We can't end world hunger and violence in one day, but we can make one person's day a better one, and even save their lives. When we truly discover what loving our neighbor means, then we will see justice come.
