Climate change posters for Pipal Tree

I made a series of ten posters on climate change as part of Pipal Tree's Climate Change Awareness and Education Programme 2018. Pipal Tree, an NGO established in 1984 works to create a symbiosis of the personal, the social and the ecological towards sustainable development practices, with climate change being one of the central issues. The research and content writing was done by Jayalakshmi K, a senior journalist who has extensively written on science and environment topics and has previously worked with reputed English dailies.
This series was done for dissemination among high school and pre-university students. Being aimed at teenagers, I suggested that we do something different with the graphics and not have the usual straight-forward pictures that they come across in their text books. After making a few rough sketches, they approved my idea of a comic strip style for the illustrations. This was done with the intention of having them take home the essence of the article as opposed to just numbers which would anyway be highlighted in the paragraphs below. The humor in these comics is made mainly for teenagers and wouldn't be understood by a younger audience.
These scientific posters would mainly be projected in classrooms and so, I had to take this into consideration while choosing the page size, typefaces and the font size. On asking if the textual information could be cut down keeping in mind that posters have less text, I was instructed to retain it full for reasons cited by the organisation. Nevertheless, I loved the challenge and decided to make the most of it. These were made on an A1 canvas and the typefaces used were Montserrat and Domine, for legibility and readability purposes that projection requires. I used these as opposed to a brush script as I wanted to maintain the subtle tone of the illustrations and the sombre one of the information.
Below are a few posters from the series.
