Public Service Campaign Poster Project
For a Graphic Design class project I needed to study a social issue and create three posters with a similar theme. It needed to include graphics, a "call to action", and contact information.
I focused my idea on child abuse. After many hours of research, brainstorming, and sketching, I came up with the idea of Adults "seeing" or "hearing" a child, despite a child's lack of voice. Rarely do abused children actually call attention to what has happened so it is then up to responsible adults to notice and take action. With this theme in mind I created three posters of children of various ages who have no mouth to speak with. In the images, bruises are clearly visible. This, coupled with a lack of mouth and bold statements can cause deep emotional impact to the viewer.
I started with several different designs, and narrowed them down and refined them. I came to realize that I needed consistency in size, shape, color, and text throughout all the designs. I used Rockwell (bold, regular, and condensed) for the typeface. I also altered the color of the type and added a drop shadow, to contrast nicely with the background according to the poster.
I used free images from pexels.com, and altered them in Photoshop. I completed the poster in Indesign.
