Itajime Shibori is the technique of creating negative spaces in the dye. It uses folded fabrics and pieces of wood, acrylic and even strong mountboard (as I’ve used here) to mask off areas from the dye. Creating different folds and sandwiching them between different shapes can create hundreds of different patterns.
