She's Broken
A collaborative piece with Joana Ferreira

After reading about the sexual allegations in Hollywood and the lack of equality within the industry, my partner, Joana Ferreira and I, decided to base our college project 'Choose Your Network' on the #metoo movement. During our research and reading we came across the story on comedian, Aziz Ansari. We noticed that this particular case created a lot of controversy, as although the date '"was completely consensual"' to Ansari, Grace felt uncomfortable about the situation. So much so, that she brought the case to the public eye. It goes to show that there is always two sides of every story. Which may be completely opposite to each other. Just because one side may say that everything was 'completely consensual' doesn't necessarily mean the other side of the story feels the same way. My partner and I wanted to translate this message to an audience through audio and visual mediums.

Basing our script off the Aziz Ansari story, our aim was to translate the fact that there are two sides of every story. We did this by creating a montage of shots of a woman and a man, muted, with a voice over of the opposite character telling their side of how the date went. You will notice that as the story progresses the female character gets more and more uncomfortable while the male character is unfazed, as if he doesn't think there is anything wrong with how the story goes.
