Sleep (2017-)
Sleep  is an ongoing project that examines the act of sleeping in public places all around the world. I got the idea for the project after reading that public sleeping is a sign of diligence in Japan where they call it Inemuri. Although the western views towards public napping are not as acceptable, there are still some people in the parks, streets and train stations who seem comfortable with getting their powernaps in the middle of the daylight.  The whole series is rooted in my interest in human behavior and peculiarities in urban space.  I have a deep affinity for street photography because it allows me to connect with the world and investigate the human nature. I do want to include a humorous twist in my work but never to mock anyone. The world of sleepers is not a documentation of homelessness or poverty. I am not particularly interested in the socioeconomic status of the subjects. What I am interested in is capturing my subjects asleep in a world that is buzzing. I think there is something beautiful and otherworldly in that.
