‘The Buried Gods (after Lethbridge 1957)’
Slate and enamel. 46 x 21 cm.
Carved and enamelled representation of the Gogmagog chalk hill figures once visible at Wandlebury in Cambridgeshire, rediscovered by T.C. Lethbridge in 1954. During his lifetime, Lethbridge’s work was met with scepticism from the academic community, but more recently championed by the likes of Colin Wilson and Julian Cope.
