London Summer
A series illustrating three of my favourite places from my trip to London last summer. My aim was to replicate not only the imagery and visuals of the time and place, but also the atmosphere and mood. Each location has one illustration of its actual appearance, and another of the abstract feelings that it aroused in me.
Culpeper Community Garden
I had found Culpeper Community Garden through a series of quick online searches in my hunt for London's green spaces. It turned out to be a hidden gem, and the garden was in full bloom when I arrived. Many of the people I saw in the garden came to find a shady spot to enjoy their lunch.
Piccadilly Circus
The place where I stayed was but a short walk to Piccadilly Circus and everything else Central London had to offer. There came to be a familiarity to the ornate buildings and welcoming banners, but the rush of excitement and energy found among its shops and visitors was fast-paced and always changing.
Westminster Bridge
Sunset on Westminster Bridge, a sight that draws countless camera-holding tourists near Big Ben on both sides of the Thames. There were many beautiful sights the city had to offer, but in the end, nothing beat nature's own fantastic display of pinks, oranges, and purples.
