Social Design Campaign: The OPEN Project
Brief
Discover a value that you find problematic in the current society and design a social project that addresses it or provides a possible solution.

Value: Openness
In this age of new technologies such as the Internet that allows us to communicate with no boundaries, openness is still not as commonplace as one would think, with the creation of echo chambers and confirmation biases that actually closes us away from new ideas and thought. Hence, openness is a value that we need to uphold consciously, in order for conversations to continue and the society to progress.

Proposed Solution
In a previous survey conducted to find out more about the habits of youths in online communication, the main insight was not that people were unwilling to communicate with each other, but HOW they were communicating was not effective and hence did not contribute to productive discussions. Hence this project aims to create a campaign that informed on the ways to communicate more effectively, as well as a pledge system to create a larger awareness for the need of openness in our society.

The campaign consists of a Guidebook/Poster to serve as a handy guide on how to communicate effectively, covering various aspects such as common logical fallacies that often surface in discussions; a Pledge Pin and a Pledge Card that serves as a reminder of one's commitment to open conversations, all packaged in a box that requires one to 'open the mouth' to reveal the contents, much like the concept of this campaign.
