Lyonel Feininger in Ribnitz and Damgarten

Lyonel Feininger in Ribnitz and Damgarten

The German-American painter, graphic artist and caricaturist Lyonel Feininger, who is one of the most important artists of classical modernism with his work at the Bauhaus, liked to spend the summer months at the baltic seaside. The archipelago around isles of Rügen, Usedom and the peninsula Fischland/Darß was a very popular destination for him. Feininger was also a frequent guest in Ribnitz-Damgarten, where he found inspiration that influenced his work decisively. The region has repeatedly left traces in his work, and the city's striking architectural features and buildings can be found in Feininger's works. This guide accompanies you on the art walk through Ribnitz and Damgarten, where you can visit the places of Feininger's work in the small town and take the artist's perspective.
