Personal project about an asian calendar with Katasushika Hokusai's paintings.
SOFTWARE Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign.
The Chinese calendar is used also in the Japanese calendar.
Every time period is represented by an animal of the Chinese zodiac.
Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Hiroshige and Kitagawa Utamaro were Japanese engravers and painters of the Edo (the current Tokyo) period.
In this period they were made Nishiki-e colored prints and Ukiyo-e paintings. ("image of the floating world").
The Ukiyo-e paintings were inexpensive, produced mainly for the inhabitants of the city. The main subjects were: city life, daily activities, geishas, sumo wrestlers, natural landscapes, animals, waterfalls, the famous Great Wave of Kanagawa, the Fifty-three post stations of the Tōkaidō and the mountain Fuji.
Their works were an important source of inspiration for European painters such as Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin.
All the months of this visual calendar.
