PACE BIKES
The subject
In my free time I like to ride bikes, particularly road bikes and singlespeeds. Over the course of time the wish rose to build my own bike. So I did it. I started with a steel frame from the 70s. I sandblasted and sanded it, put a prime coat on and painted it. Most of the parts I assembled were new because the old ones weren't usable anymore. Nevertheless I wanted to keep the old style so I had to dig through the internet to find the right parts. To keep the look of the bike clean I chose a automatic 2-speed wheelset - so no cassette or derailleurs. When this bike was finished I build a second one in a new, sporty style.
The name
To unite the bikes I created a name and logo. Basically I wanted to merge to topics: speed and calmness. For me personally riding bikes - these bikes especially - is a way to calm down and let go of problems or concerns. It's a great way to clear your mind.
"Pace" is associated with "speed" but it also means "peace" in italian, so it was perfect to connect those two topics.
