SUMMARY
Commercial I 360° I Live Action

A journey of backpackers through the vast untapped nature of a little orbiting planet called British Columbia.

The craft the visual look of the project, the goal was to portray a juxtaposition. It had to look as if the characters are walking on a small globe, which kept spinning and revealing completely new horizons, creating a feeling of an infinitely expanding ecosystem. We wanted to bring a desire for exploration and an excitement for one of the most beautiful natural habitats, making it look like a planet of its own.

Case Study
HOW WE MADE IT

To achieve the look of the project, we took the footage from 7 individual cameras, each filming in 4K, and stitched them into a 360 degree spherical image.
Then it went into a stage of projection and coordinate warp process. In shots where the camera was static, we had to reconstruct the ground to remove any notion of how the project was filmed and

preserve the overall visual illusion of the planet. This was a meticulous process, particularly in the boat scene where we ended up reconstructing part of the boat as well as the ocean.
The scene where we orbit around a forest were filmed with a flying drone.

A more complex reconstruction method was used here. We also erased the drone operating team from every shot as they were always visible in the 360 degree view.
In the end, we created a perspective through which this little planet revolved around us as we followed the journey of the characters.
