CYANOTYPE - A print making process

Cyanotype is a classic process of making Blue prints as the Architects did in the 20th Century. It involves two chemicals, Potassium Ferricyanide and Feric Ammonium Citrate. The solution is then prepared and applied on the surface in a dark room. After it dries, it is exposed in sun by using any object or stencil to obtain design on the surface. Here are exposed Fabriano sheets by using natural flowers and weeds for resisting.
Negatives of the images are used in order to obtain Photographs or Prints in Cyanotype.
The image obtained after exposing the negative in sun for about 30 minutes.
The colour of the then exposed image changes to Cyan after washing in Water.
Exposing tracing of designs directly to obtain print in Cyanotype.

Cyanotype can be obtained on fabric as well. Different types of fabric show different reaction to Cyanotype according to their property, dye or construction.
