PURSUIT OF VITALITY
THE PURSUIT
We were asked to pick a restaurant and create an HTML website. The webpage must show the ability to apply HTML, CSS and demonstrate an understanding of visual communication and typography with web technology. I designed a website for the vegetarian restaurant called Source, located in the SOMA district in San Francisco.
THE ACQUISITION
Source is a vegetarian restaurant that believes in keeping the earth’s ecosystem in balance. The restaurant selects high quality organic food and cooks its dishes in an innovation way. When thinking about vegetarian food, words such as freshness and healthy come to mind. I developed an earthy and homemade feel to convey freshness. My focus audience is 25 to 45 year old consumers who live an active lifesty leand care about what they eat. The current website lacks any organic feeling. To revamp it, I applied earthy color combinations and textured backgrounds to show my concept.
THE OUTCOME
The new site consists of six pages. The site contents include a homepage, menu, photo, contact information, online order page and a collection of press releases. I applied typographic treatments and a grid system that I learned in print design. I learned that a good type hierarchy makes the user experience fluid and intuitive. The position of navigation is also important for users to easily browse the website.
