ここでは菊を手向ける
葬儀に用いる祭壇、それに関わる人を通して現在
の生死観の姿、形を探る。
日本、フランスでの葬儀で特によく使われる菊を
中心に円、鏡など神聖さを含んだシンボルを用い
て再構成した。神聖な儀式が行われる一方、その
舞台裏では菊農園でのライトを使った人工的な
栽培、競り、フラワリストによる葬儀の際の大掛か
りな装飾など、この葬儀産業の大きさを物語って
いた。作品は生死感を表現した写真群と経済的
な側面の写真群とに分類した。
Here, I placed the
chrysanthemum
I researched the current forms and appearances
of life and death through the funeral
industry. In the photographs, chrysanthemums,
often used in funeral settings in
Japan and France, are modified with sacred
symbols of circles and mirrors. While a
funeral is a holy ritual, its industry is large
and strongly connected to the capitalistic
economy; artificially made chrysanthemums
with special lights, auctions of flowers,
large funeral space designs and stage
decoration by the floweriest. Photographic
works are divided by two groups: life and
death and funeral industry.
