A widowed mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son's fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.
All Menu Design, lettering and Animation was done by me. The drawings and pictures used on the DVD were all photographs from The Babadook book highlighted in the movie. I wanted to give a little of a pop-up book feeling to all of them.
The whole idea for the Main Menu was to have a Sneaky Babadook wanting to enter our living room/bedroom. I did the animation of the door opening and closing to give that illusiory idea of 3D and pop-up book. Added some lightning effects to give the little creppyness mood to the whole video. The selection button is a little hat similar to Babadook's one.
Chapter Menu with another Babadook sneaking in and wanting to steal the little chapter buttons. Added the Let Me In phrase with a bubble cause he always wants to get invited to get in the house and have a nice cup of tea. When we try to select a chapter a white rectangle appears as a selection.
Trailer Menu. This time Babadook is hiding in the closet because he's afraid of lightning (?). Added the effect of Rain on the window and some lightning too.. The closet has a little wiggle in it.
Other Trailers Menu. This time it's a little more simplified. Babadook shadow is opening and closing his mouth.
