Project Breakdown:
This whole project started on my parents wedding anniversary,
which happens to be the day after Christmas.
My father's gift for my mother was a beautiful arrangement of roses.
I took it as an opportunity to photograph some really pretty roses.
While I was taking photos my mother said something that really got my wheels spinning. I don't remember the whole thing, but the part of what she said which I focused on. She said, “Those beautiful flowers start dying the day they are cut from the bush”. I was caught up on the concept of how similar our precious lives are to the life of a cut flower.
So I created the rose below from a combination of one of the photographs of a rose and the stem was a heavily photoshopped photograph of a small painting, also of a rose, which I had painted out of acrylic paint on a simple paper canvas.
This is the journey from that point to the final finished piece.
Thanks for looking.
Any feedback is appreciated.
