Toby is an ultra-thin, lightweight folding smart scale that uses advanced pressure sensing and bio-analysis technology to tell your weight. With bluetooth and wireless connectivity, Toby transmits data to your device so you can track your weight anywhere. Weight is one of the key data points that fitness trackers need to correctly calculate calorie burn, and one of the key individual health indicators along with blood pressure.
Conceived as a travel scale, Toby replaces thick glass weight scales that aren't portable.
On the contact surface, metallic contacts read electrical signals from your body to tell your body composition and hydration levels. The main body material is TPU. A glass screen shows current weight and variations based on your prior average weight, and ideal/goal weight.
In 2013 with a small team and help from some talented electronic engineers, we built a proof-of-concept prototype. Unfortunately, the resources needed to successfully fund the project have not materialized.
Toby is completely portable so you can take it anywhere.
