Single color / black and white logo design for a shonen genre manga called Neo World Zodiac created by Zabrine Bonoan.
You can read Neo World Zodiac chapters on Saturday AM digital shonen manga anthology magazine. So far, Neo World Zodiac had appeared in issues 44, 50, 51, 53, 56, 60, 61 of Saturday AM.
Neo World Zodiac revolves around Nuo, a gluttonous chubby girl who later discovers she's one of the 12 chosen ones who will possess the powers of the Animal Zodiac Gods to save the world from the evil darkness that's currently spreading around the city.
Neo World Zodiac is inspired by the author's travel experience in Hong Kong. (Read more on the issue 44 of Saturday AM.)
The author wanted a logo that looks like a mix of traditional real Chinese calligraphy brush strokes and a little modernism. Because the story is set in a futuristic but Asian city.
She wanted the brush strokes part to look raw and organic. I've made each letter using an old Chinese brush and ink on paper, then scanned them to make them digital. I assembled everything digitally and used a futuristic-looking font face.
