Business card mock up
This project was completed for the BYU Idaho Art 230 class, Project 2. The project objective was to learn how to use typography in a decorative and informative way. We created a business card to help meet this objective. From brainstorming to pencil sketches and then digital sketches the goal was to create many options and carefully narrow the options down to just a few ideas that would be further fleshed out and color added to the card design.

As needs arise, we still use business cards in today's digital world. A clean, easy to read business card goes a long way in helping others stay in touch with you. Ever picked up a card and wonder what this person does, how to get in touch with them, or even who the card belongs to? It is important to have a nicely designed business card so you can clearly and effectively communicate with others. Your card may look nice, but hopefully, it is YOU that has made the better impression.

"He was ok, but his business card is AWESOME! Let's hire him!" -no one ever said

Another useful skill learned during this project was to create a style guide. Many things can happen along the way, and a style guide can literally save the day! Not as critical today as it was only ten years ago because it is so easy to edit ad set type on modern devices. The style guide below displays the final project example, color swatch and values, and specific font assignments. This can be a valuable asset to any project.
