Columbia City High School:
New School, New Era
This rebrand is something I’ve considered taking on for some time now. As I listen to the Friday Night Lights soundtrack and wrap up the final few details, I can honestly say it’s my favorite to date. I graduated from Columbia City High School in 2005. Throughout editing mockups and analyzing type treatments, I’ve been reminded of how much the school actually means to me. Columbia City may not seem like much, but thinking back on 3,000 screaming fans packed in to Donald S. Weeks Gymnasium, I can tell you it truly is a special community.
For years now, a new high school has been a topic of discussion, and it looks like that’s finally going to happen in the fall of 2020. Students will be greeted with a brand-new $68 million campus. To go along with that, I thought to myself, “now is the perfect time, if ever, to put together a rebrand.” My goal was to take the same general aesthetic of the current logo, but improve the execution, and create something that the school would be able to use for years into the future. I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out. Enjoy!
