I was asked to design the UAB Football Program covers for the 2012 season. They liked the design from 2011 and wanted to use that as a starting point. So, I took a few elements that I used the previous year, changed them up and used them in the 2012 cover. They wanted the background to have a texture and liked the grass background from last year. I created tick marks to represent the playing field, and added a few textured layers behind it. I decided that I wanted to make the player on each cover stand out a lot. I played around with a few different things, but ended up just making the player be in front of the green divider line for the sponsor logos. Something so simple had a huge impact, everyone I spoke to in Athletics wanted to know what I did to make the player pop so much.
