Holi is a Hindu spring festival celebrated in India, also known as the "festival of love" or the "festival of colours." In recent years the festival has appeared in parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, joy, and colours, but most people are starting to forget that originally it was an important national holiday in India, that some still celebrate as such.
So my concept was to create a poster design that only gives information about the original holiday for non-Hindus all over the world. While I keep the iconic colourful nature of the festival in my design, I also give voice to action, movement and activity so that it can talk about the origins of the holiday as well. I created a seamless pattern design that can be used in almost any ways, and that gives the main character and element of the festival's identity.
