Caro Fotos.
Carolina Sanchez is a professional photographer currently based out of Chicago, Illinois, working under the moniker of Caro Fotos.
Carolina was influenced early on from the stories her father shared with her during his time at El Imparcial, a daily newspaper based in Oaxaca, Mexico. Before immigrating to the United States, Carolina’s father worked in the company’s darkroom, developing and inserting photos into the daily news. The stories from his experience working at that institution would eventually be passed on to Carolina and, ultimately, shape her decision in becoming a photographer.
We took on the task of developing a visual identity that reflects this talented photographer's cultural background. While most visual identities for photographers are handled to act in favour of image, our proposal is packed with a vivid color palette and textures that are inspired by the brightly colored Alebrijes and some of the vernacular subjects found in the renown Oaxacan painter Rufino Tamayo's figurative abstraction artworks, we paired these elements with a clean and neat custom logotype that portrays the identity with a memorable and distinctive aesthetic.
