The Small Grant Program promotes sustainable development while addressing global environmental issues through grants of up to US $ 50,000 in support of Andean communities working to conserve biodiversity and improve their living conditions.

The communities' projects are led primarily by community-based organizations, and have contributed to strengthening and empowering local organizations in the sustainable management of their territories, environment and biodiversity. The projects have included various topics, such as organic agriculture; the sustainable use of non-timber forest products; fish farming with native species; the breeding of camelids and the transformation of their fibers; the use and revaluation of medicinal, aromatic and coloring plants; the recovery of native cotton and colored alpacas; the artisan production of honey; among many other initiatives.
