STEMteachersPHX Logo Design

STEMteachersPHX is a subsidiary of the American Modeling Teachers Association, a 501(c) non-profit organization dedicated to creating quality professional development opportunities for teachers of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. They are inspired by STEMteachersNYC.

StP wanted to create a new logo that would resemble that of STEMteachersNYC. In that logo, the iconic New York skyline was silhouetted on top of a red bar with the words “STEMteachersNYC” on it. In order to match this logo, the client wanted an iconic Arizona “skyline.”
After a few rough sketches, the “skylines” that were most iconic and unique to Arizona was to be the mountains. I took and image of Camelback Mountain and of Four Peaks Mountain, two iconic mountains in the Phoenix area, into Adobe Illustrator. I created a silhouette of each by tracing over the images. I added a few cacti to make it more unique.
Each variation was then placed on top of a red bar with the text STEMteachersPHX, matching that of NYC. After showing the client the two logo options, client chose the Camelback Mountain skyline.
The final logo has been used for t-shirts as well as on the STEMteachersPHX website (http://stemteachersphx.org/). I did not create the website, but all images were taken by me.
