I've been working on this series after seeing a presentation from Ludwig Haskins about his father Sam Haskins. What he said that really struck me is that Photography is not just showing you what is in front of the camera but it also gives you an insight into what is behind the camera (what is in the photographers heart and mind.) I was really struck by that as it is something I have often thought of my work but not ever thought to discuss it with others.

This series is my walk into a less natural world. I have not often given myself permission to just play so here I do just that. These are 3 separate portraits fixed together using Photoshop. The differences in light and expression are subtle (taken seconds apart) but interesting enough to entertain the eye (at least I think so). I also play a lot more with Photoshop than I usually do my aim to create atmosphere and tension with contrast and colour rather than to keep the shot looking as natural as possible.
