I served as the instructional design lead on a proposal for a partnership with a major industry textbook publisher for a blended course that would leverage the company's content resources to enable TEEX to provide a hybrid online and live delivery of a training course for firefighter certification. I designed a user interface, a feature set, and a collection of standardized activity formats that could provide preparation for the firefighting students to reinforce concepts from their textbook during at-home study and build a sense of community among learners prior to their attendance at a four-week "boot camp" in which they would apply the hands-on skills associated with the didactic content of the online course and textbook.

The proposal was accepted and resulted in a multimillion-dollar partnership between the publisher and the agency. The online fire academy that evolved from this original proposal is now fully owned and operated by TEEX.
