As part of our masters course in Fashion Accessories at Politecnico di Milano, we were given a brief to design a new product for the leather brand Zanellato. As a way of being sustainable, we were supposed to use Zanellato's scraps of leather and create a new line for their products, using a piece of leather no bigger than A4 size. 

I started out by researching the brand and identifying the main brand values I would like to focus on in my project. With a brand built on authenticity, iconic pieces and hand crafts, I chose to focus on the artisanal side as well as the softness of their leather and how iconic their designs are. 

From there, came the idea of Zanellini: hand-stitched baby leather shoes with changeable hand-painted animal tails.  The name also comes from the Italians way of saying something is small buy adding -ini at the end of the word. So since it's baby leather shoes for Zanellato, the name Zanellini sounded perfect for the Italian brand. 

Zanellini's can either be worn on their own or any animal tail can be added to it. Imagine how cute your little one would look in these?!
