Workshop technology - School Furniture for Kids

An academic project where design aims at supporting the behavior and active nature of kids and the furniture therefore becomes an object of play and curiosity rather than just being a seating object.
Various ideas incorporating a play element in the furniture .
The furniture is perceived as a cube with various faces offering something interesting for the kid to indulge in. A very simple table surface has a bottle well to create a sense of curiosity for the kid. The replaceable Acrylic panels gives new identity to the furniture as it brings in change factor . The pinup board behind the chair enables every kid to express their ideas freely.The seat ,backrest panels have been detailed to offer interests for the kid to  play with.
The Prototype is made of 20X20 mm, 12X12 mm MS square pipes . The seat , backrest and table top is made of MDF . The container is PVC and the sliding panel is made of 6mm clear acrylic sheet with laser cut profiles .Colours of the furniture are kept neutal white with the features highlighted in blue and shades of yellow and green. The edges of the perforations are highlighted to tempt the kids to feel and play with it.
