The Inventory Box is an online database designed for managing classroom equipment. It allows teachers to quickly implement a checkout system in order to track equipment use and minimize loss/theft. The interface provides at-a-glance information about which items are available, which students have items checked out, what the items are being used for, and more.

The system improves upon paper checkout logs or spreadsheet-based systems by making it easy to see which items are used most often, how many times a student has checked out an item, or even which students have never borrowed any items. Automatic color-coding also allows overdue items to stand out from the others.

The application can send nightly reminder emails to students with items checked out to help ensure timely returns of equipment.

The project has been deployed as a working, multi-client web app. With the input of friends/colleagues, it will continue to be developed/refined. But right now, the application is mainly intended as a proof of concept. Since it's not quite ready for primetime, please use the following screen shots to see what it's all about!
