STREETS OF CALCUTTA
From home to work, I chose to travel as a local would. Few steps from Hardutt Rai Chamaria Rd lead up the bridge from where I took sharing Auto till Howrah bus stand. I took the first bus I could get my foot on. (the rush and struggle to get inside a bus was real but I enjoyed the feeling of being completely lost). From tea board, it was all walking. I still remember how fascinating the tram track looked outside Lal Bazar police station as if the tracks were guiding further.  The route was a bit confusing on the first day but my cousin made me mark the landmarks in a way that even today, far from Calcutta I can imagine a walk down the whole way. Landmarks I remember are Ganesh Chandra avenue, mercantile building, Bentinck street, mission café, and few other turns I could only point out when I see them.

The best part about walking the Calcutta streets is, it makes you feel like one of them. For me, it was like reuniting with my old lost craving for the city, its street food (jhaal mudi, Jamun, taal, daab, and sometimes chop mudi became part of my everyday munch while walking.)
