This is the story of a boy with Schizophrenia and Autism.

A short personal narrative with simple illustrations showing the change of the boy’s perception and his mental progression. Fear, trauma and physical abuse are part of the story.  In western society, it is still not accepted to talk openly about ‘mental diversity’ nor mental diseases. Our educational and social system does not include those who have a different way of thinking which creates an outcast, which has growing difficulties finding a place in this society. In a competitive society we want the best for our children, but we pay high prices for putting them through the promising machine of socializing and ‘talent and success’. Are we still human enough to face the ones who are left behind?
An open dialog about mental health and its maintenance should be part of the daily discourse in our society. The book is a ‘pladoyer’ for the acceptance of mental diversity and acknowledgement of the beauty of ‘mental otherness’.
