Common Causes of High CPU

CPU is nothing but the Central Power Unit of the Computer. A computer can run smoothly only if the CPU is functioning properly. The computer is likely to crash if the CPU is not being used properly or if there is an over load.

Some of the major causes for an over load of the CPU are as follows:

1. Scripts and codes that are poorly written. It could even be plugins, modules, add-ons or extensions.
2. Generation or conversion tools that use resource intensive scripts and also follow the batch process. This may also include cron jobs which are of high frequency.
3. The template or design of the resource is intensive.
4. When a website has very less ‘real’ traffic, but has a large number of robots or spiders hitting the site
5. Very high amount of ‘real’ traffic of a website.

To know how to tackle these issues, you need to know about Microsoft compatibility telemetry or read on to find out more about how to solve this particular issue.

Firstly, you will have to scan your computer for any kind of Adware or Spyware. This is found to be one of the major causes for a surge in your CPU usage. Scanning your computer for hyper activity of this application will help you effectively.

Limit your back ground activity. Just like your android device, you can force stop the back ground functioning of apps that take up heavy space. Many such apps running in the back ground can cause your CPU to glitch or crash. When you feel that your computer is beginning to hang or slow down, you can prevent these apps from temporarily functioning in the back ground so that it will effectively prevent your CPU from crashing.

Clean the registry in your computer. If you use the inbuilt format, it may not prove to be as efficient as you expect it to be. The most effective option is to externally download a cleaner and clean up the registry spic and span.

Stop SVCHOST.exe from functioning temporarily. This is a host to many programs that run on your computer. It has a limited space for loading and if this limit is reached, it will cause a surge in the usage of your CPU which could lead to an over load or a crash.

Another important step that you must take is to manually open and run the task manager and have a look at the apps that are running and those that are functioning in the back ground. Whichever applications that you think are unnecessary at the moment, you can force stop and prevent them from functioning temporarily.

As and when you force quit the back ground processes, you will notice that the percentage of CPU usage comes down until it is well within the safe limits.
Also, by periodically checking the CPU usage, you can prevent it from reaching a 100% thus leading to a surge in CPU usage or a crash.
