Book Cover Series:
José Mauro de Vasconcelos

The objective of this assignment was to create a book cover series with exclusive use of typography. These three novels were written by a Brazilian writer, José Mauro de Vasconcelos. The author used a character named Zeze throughout the series to reflect his own childhood and growing pains, which is why the author's name serves as the main design element on the covers. The first cover represents a child trying to write his/her name (identity&ego) for the first time. The second cover reflects an adolescent feeling confined and isolated. The last cover illuminates a process of a young adult trying to figure out his/her future. Additionally, the main character experiences metamorphic separations within these three different stages of growing up, thus the lines and the separations in the titles were applied.
