Clara, the schoolbook typography

Clara, the Schoolbook font
Clara is a typography specially designed for the teaching of literacy for children. Based on the work of Rosemary Sassoon and born from a two-year process involving primary teachers and school children of literacy learning age, Clara has been developed to optimise readability of texts in a way that facilitates reading for Children at an early stage of learning.
The character finishing favours both the fluency of reading and writing, and the forms and counterforms are optically designed to help to distinguish typically confusing characters for people with dyslexic disorder. Clara also incorporates regionalisms from Paraguay, the country where it was created, such as the Guarani alphabet characters and the number 7 and Z crossbars.
Testing with children in early development stages. Clearly, better calligraphic and recognition outcomes are attained using Clara when comparing to other fonts used commonly for schoolbooks (Avant Garde in this case)
